Between Two Worlds
Between Two Worlds is a body of work which emerged during the two years of my Master of Fine Arts degree at National Art School. This work explores themes of memory, mythology, culture and identity through ceramics, textiles, sculpture and video. Drawing from both my Macedonian heritage and Australian upbringing, the work investigates family narratives and cultural hybridity. I create immersive environments that merge personal mythologies with creatures, soft sculptures and talismanic tiles, inviting viewers to explore the complexities around belonging and identity. Childhood memorabilia and counter-mythology play key roles in my practice as I re-imagine familiar stories and characters, constructing a new personal mythology. Through this, I explore the space between two worlds – reality and imagination, and the experience of belonging to two places at once.
Between Two Worlds is currently on show at the National Art School until the November 16.
All works are for sale and can be purchased through their website.
